Sean Power is the CEO and co-founder of Musical AI, an AI infrastructure company focused on rights management and attribution for generative media. He has spent over 20 years building and scaling analytics, observability, and media platforms, including startups that were acquired by technology companies such as Google, Salesforce, and BMC. Sean co-authored Complete Web Monitoring (O'Reilly), an early reference on web & social analytics, performance and operations, and has spoken at conferences including SXSW, Velocity, and FWD50.
An Anishinaabe technologist, Sean previously served as Executive Officer and Entrepreneur-in-Residence at the Indigenous Centre for Cumulative Effects, where he worked on Indigenous data governance and policy in environmental and cumulative effects monitoring. Sean Power is the CEO and co-founder of Musical AI, an AI infrastructure company building rights and attribution systems for generative media. Musical AI focuses on tracing how creative works are used in training and deployment pipelines so that rights holders can be identified, attributed, and paid when their work informs AI outputs.
Over the past two decades, Sean has built and led products at the intersection of analytics, observability, and media. He held leadership roles in companies such as Coradiant, a web performance analytics firm acquired by BMC, and social analytics startup PostRank, acquired by Google. At CoTweet, an early social media management platform later absorbed into Salesforce, he worked on products that helped brands operate reliably at scale across social channels. He has also co-founded and led companies in media and data, including ventures in esports analytics and digital publishing.
Earlier in his career, Sean co-authored Complete Web Monitoring (O'Reilly, 2009), the first book to treat web analytics, usability, performance monitoring, social media analytics, and competitive analysis as a single integrated discipline. It was translated into many languages. His work led to invitations to speak at events such as O'Reilly Velocity, SXSW, and other conferences focused on operations, analytics, and public sector technology.
Sean is Anishinaabe and splits his time between commercial work and Indigenous rights issues. He previously served as Executive Officer and Entrepreneur-in-Residence at the Indigenous Centre for Cumulative Effects, advising on data, technology, and policy for Indigenous-led monitoring of environmental and cumulative impacts.
